The 2010 Science School for Physicians will be hosted by the Washington
University in St. Louis School of Medicine and will take place September 12-17, 2010. Deadline for applications is May 1st, 2010.
Learning Objectives:
1) To gain a basic understanding of research methods (basic/laboratory and clinical/translational) used in diabetes-related research;
2) To understand how these methodologies can be utilized to address specific research hypotheses and answer specific research questions;
3) To gain an understanding of how to interpret research data and critically evaluate research papers and presentations;
4) To understand the strengths and weaknesses of different research designs in hypothesis testing;
5) To understand how to differentiate different types of diabetes (type 1, type 2, monogenic/MODY) in youth.

The Seventh ISPAD Science School for Health Professionals will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, 24th October – 26th October 2010, immediately prior to the 36th Annual Scientific Meeting of ISPAD. The 3 day Science School is a foundation course in research methodology designed for allied health professionals (dietitians, nurses, psychologists, and social workers) who have or wish to develop a research interest in diabetes in children and adolescents.

October 2010, right in the middle of spring in the southern hemisphere, celebrating the 200th birth anniversary of its Nation and its first national government, the city of Buenos Aires is ready to receive all the participants to the 36th ISPAD Annual Meeting, the first ISPAD Meeting in Latin America. Argentina and Latin America are very proud that Buenos Aires has been chosen as the venue for this Meeting.
The Scientific Programme will provide great opportunities to learn and discuss new information concerning diagnostic and therapeutic developments as well as cutting edge data in several fields of diabetes research and care: new and exciting advances in the fields of prevention and management of diabetes and all its interrelated factors. Simultaneous English – Spanish translation will be provided at this multidisciplinary meeting for pediatricians, nurses, nutritionists, psychologists and other members of the health group.
