Chapter 19: Other complications and associated conditions
Dear ISPAD member/friend,

Thank you for your continued interest in the 2018 ISPAD Clinical Practice Consensus Guidelines and in the previous drafts chapters we shared with you.

We are happy to announce that the Chapter 19: Other complications and associated conditions in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes is now ready for you to read and comment on. We are looking forward to hearing your thoughts and input on this chapter.

Kind regards,

David Maahs

Dear all, thank you for this comprehensive chapter on other complications and associated conditions,
Especiaaly the table at the end is very helpful!

I have only one minor comment.
There is one publication about MS and Diabetes. I would add this hint in the chapter associated autoimmune diseases.

Higher relative risk for multiple sclerosis in a pediatric and adolescent diabetic population: analysis from DPV database.Diabetes Care. 2014;37(1):96-101. doi: 10.2337/dc13-1414. Epub 2013 Aug 29.

Best Wishes,

Thomas Kapellen

Dear Thomas,

Many thanks for your thoughtful comments, we agree and will include mention of MS in the overview of autoimmune conditions with references to provide readers with the opportunity to explore this topic in greater detail if they wish.

Farid Mahmud and Maria Craig.
