ISPAD-IDF Memorandum of Understanding

Fittingly, on World Diabetes Day (14th November 2015), ISPAD and the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote and direct joint areas of working together to improve the outcome and the care of young people with diabetes across the World.

While ISPAD has always enjoyed a good working relationship with IDF, the MoU is designed to build on the connections between the two organisations and enhance the collaboration and partnership undertakings to the benefit of both groups. Of particular note is the recognition of support and contribution of ISPAD to the IDF World Diabetes Congress held every two years and similarly the IDF contribution to the ISPAD Annual Conference, together with joint undertaking in projects and education and advocacy programmes. An example of the latter is the KiDS programme around diabetes in school ( an IDF project with input from ISPAD.

ISPAD and IDF have also signed a MoU around the joint involvement of Life for a Child, again an IDF sponsored programme but with significant support and direction from ISPAD (

At the forthcoming IDF WDC in Vancouver discussions will continue on future joint activities between ISPAD and IDF.

Details of the MoU can be found here.
