Interest Groups: Diabetes Nurse Educators

Welcome to the Diabetes Nurse Educators interest group of ISPAD. This group is open to all members working in paediatric diabetes with an interest in nursing and education.

We aim to provide; a place for specific networking, a forum for discussion, a portal to share resources and ideas

 

HISTORY:

The development of the profession diabetes nurse began in 1914, before the discovery of insulin. The diabetes nurse educated and motivated the patient and the family with the starvation therapy. In 1936, the diabetes nurse specialty had evolved, the educator model was well developed.
