Prof. Philip Zeitler Announced as Editor-in-Chief of Pediatric Diabetes

International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) and John Wiley and Sons A/S are pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Philip Zeitler as Editor-in-Chief of Pediatric Diabetes (PEDI) from 1st January 2018.

Professor Philip Zeitler will take over as Editor-in-Chief from Professor Mark Sperling. Prof. Sperling is founding Editor-in-Chief for Pediatric Diabetes launched in 2000. Dr. Sperling has been instrumental in developing the journal, which has become a respected and highly cited source of information in the field of pediatric diabetes.

Pediatric Diabetes is now the leading journal devoted to disseminating new knowledge relating to the epidemiology, etiology, pathogenesis, management, complications and prevention of diabetes in children, adolescents and young adults. Professor Zeitler will further the development of the journal with his broad knowledge of pediatric diabetes, autoimmunity, obesity, metabolism, and complications of diabetes. Dr. Zeitler is Head of the Section of Pediatric Endocrinology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and Chair of the Department of Endocrinology at Children’s Hospital Colorado, USA. He has worked as a clinician caring for children with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes since 1992, including 21 years at the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes and Children’s Hospital Colorado. He has published more than 100 papers in the fields of diabetes and obesity. From 2009-2016, he served as founding Editor-in-Chief of PrepEndocrinology, the American Academy of Pediatrics self-directed board review and preparation product for pediatric Endocrinology. He has also served on the editorial boards of many journals, including as a frequent guest editor for the Journal of Pediatrics.
