A message from ISPAD's President

In February the ISPAD Executive Board will hold its Winter Meeting in Madrid ahead of the ATTD Meeting. We will welcome our Corporate Advisory Board, and reports from our hardworking committees and ongoing collaborations. During the ATTD meeting, the ISPAD Symposium will feature “Unmet Technology Needs in Paediatric Diabetes” from various regions with presentations from Roque Cardona Hernández (Spain), Asma Deeb (UAE) and Priya Prahalad (USA) on Friday, February 21.

Stages of Man’s Development; establishing upright walking and then (seated) technology.

The ISPAD-JDRF Global Project was launched in Boston, November 1, 2019. The next phase is the roll-out of the online T1D global index - standards of care survey to members. This should be happening soon, hope you can respond within the two-week response time with data from your clinics including patient numbers, staffing, access an other needs.

ISPAD’s 46th Annual Conference in Abu Dhabi is progressing well. Speakers are being invited and registration will be open soon.

I am pleased to announce that in 2020, ISPAD celebrates 20-years of ISPAD Science Schools. Education is a major pillar of our mission, and we look for ways to celebrate with educators, convenors, students, JENIOUS members and the community. The first celebration will be in partnership with Children with Diabetes in Madrid. We look forward to the next 20 years of education which will undoubtedly include advancing technology.

For the romantics and not so romantic souls thank you for supporting the LFAC campaign this Valentine’s Day: “Spare a rose, save a child” (with diabetes). ISPAD thanks the Diabetes Community for this wonderful endeavor to help children less fortunate with diabetes.

It gives us great pleasure to announce David Panzirer and Gavin Griffiths as new Honorary members of ISPAD for their outstanding contribution to the improvement of the welfare of the diabetic community.

Gavin is the founder of Diathlete which operates practical forms of education through workshops and Gavin offers public speaking services for both the medical professionals in diabetes health care and, importantly, the people and communities living each day with this. In our last conference in Boston, Gavin has facilitated the warmup for all participants of our traditional ACTIVE@ISPAD Charity Run.
