Dr. Aashish Sethi

was awarded the Allan Drash Clinical Fellowship for 2019

Dr. Aashish Sethi is a Paediatric and Adolescent Endocrinologist practicing at Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India.  He completed his MBBS from Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences and MD(Paediatrics) from SBKS Medical College, Vadodara.  He had a keen interest in research and publication since his paediatric residency.  He published various research papers in several National & International journals during his paediatric residency.

Dr. Aashish Sethi received a two-year Paediatric Endocrinology fellowship training at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Delhi under guidance of Dr. Inderpal Singh Kochar. During his fellowship, He was involved in various paediatric endocrine research projects including paediatric diabetes research such as insulin degludec in Indian children and insulin pump study in Indian children. After completing his paediatric endocrine fellowship, he also received a 6-month ESPE paediatric endocrine fellowship at Alderhey Children Hospital, Liverpool.

Currently Dr. Aashish Sethi is working as a consultant paediatric endocrinologist at SGRR Medical Institute & Research Centre, Dehradun. Dehradun is the capital city of Uttarakhand state, which caters the tertiary health care needs of the state. Uttarakhand has a paediatric population of approximately 4 million. None of the centres in Uttarakhand currently have any dedicated paediatric endocrinology or multidisciplinary paediatric diabetes team. He is developing the paediatric endocrine department at the institute. He is also involved in teaching of undergraduate and post graduate doctors at the institute. There are several paediatric diabetes patients under his care.  He is very much interested in establishing a multidisciplinary paediatric diabetes in his Institute.

He has presented more than 25 papers and posters at various national and international conferences. He has been invited to speak at several regional & national conferences. He has authored more than 15 publications in various national and international journals. He is also involved in more than 10 articles, currently under review for publications by various national and international journals.

By completing ISPAD’s Allan Drash fellowship, Dr. Aashish Sethi aims to increase his knowledge in diabetes management in order to contribute to improve quality of life for children with diabetes in his country. He also aims to learn about setting up and running a multidisciplinary team for diabetic children and advanced treatment methodologies for paediatric diabetes.
