Joshua Ngwang Menang

was awarded the Allan Drash Clinical Fellowship for 2017


Mr. Menang, working for CALMEF Practice Cameroon since 2008 has devoted most of his time building a better diabetes care program for his community.

After attending the local high school Kumbo in 1990-1997; he proceeded to the local training school for nurses in Bamenda Cameroon graduating in 2000, Vienna School of Clinical Research in 2008 graduating with Ethics in Clinical Research diploma, 12th ISPAD Science School for Healthcare Professionals certificate in October 2016, Certificate in Public Health (e-learning) in 2016 and online courses on aspects of diabetes especially type 1.

As a visiting basic clinical researcher to the Rosalind Franklin University School of Medicine and Sciences IL, USA in 2008, University of Pisa, Italy in 2012 and the Central Manchester University. UK in 2013, has greatly supported his local community practice diabetes outreach project, understanding the challenges while designing appropriate intervention on various aspects of diabetes complications.

He is currently working on a project titled ''the impact of local dishes on glycemic index of type 1 diabetes'', which outcome is expected to greatly contribute to the enhancement, support and management of people with diabetes in his resource limited community in Cameroon. Additionally, he has translated into the local dialects for in-depth outcome several diabetes handouts for use in the practice’s educational programs, outreach programs and other teaching programs.

He is also very interested in basic clinical sciences and researches, especially in critical pediatric care.
