The ISPAD Nutritional Management chapter has been updated by authors from Australia, Europe, South America, UK and USA.
 
What is different in the 2018 chapter?
-  The impact of dietary fat and protein -not just carbohydrate- is considered in the calculation of the meal-time insulin dose and how it is delivered.  

- The role of continuous glucose monitoring as  a useful tool for educating both the clinician and young person with diabetes on food related behaviors is discussed.


- Strategies to minimize the postprandial excursions caused by carbohydrate, protein and fat are included
The importance of family based meal-time routines with limitations on snacking is emphasized to improve dietary quality.
