Kim C Donaghue, Loredana Marcovecchio, R Paul Wadwa, Emily Y Chew, Tien Wong, Eduardo Calliari, Bedowra Zabeen, M. Mona Salem, Maria E Craig

The new Vascular Complications Guidelines recommend to start screening for microvascular complications at age 11 years (formerly 10 years). Screening for lipid abnormalities is now acceptable in the non fasting state, and the preferred method to screening for renal disease is by first morning urinary albumin creatinine ratio. For females planning for pregnancies, screening for microvascular disease should be performed preconception and during each trimester.

From the Guidelines I quote:
-Commence screening for microvascular complications at age 11 years (formerly 10 years).
-Screening for microvascular disease should be performed preconception and during each trimester of pregnancy.
-Screen for lipid abnormalities in the non-fasting state.
-Screen for renal disease by first morning albumin creatinine ratio as the preferred method.
