Gül Yeşiltepe Mutlu

was awarded the Allan Drash Clinical Fellowship for 2019

Gül Yeşiltepe Mutlu, MD was born in Giresun, Turkey. After completing her primary and secondary education in Giresun, she graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 2002. Following the completion of her residency at pediatrics in 2008, she completed her subspeciality on pediatric endocrinology and diabetes at Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine, Division of Paediatric Endocrinology, in 2012. She completed her compulsory service between 2012 and 2015 at Zeynep Kamil Women and Children's Hospital Training and Research Hospital, which is one of the most important children’s hospitals in Turkey and then served at the same hospital until May 2016. In April 2016, she became an associate professor of Paediatric Endocrinology. She received ESPE clinical fellowship award in 2017 and studied under the mentorship of Professors Tadej Battelino and Natasa Bratina in UMC – University Children’s Hospital Ljubljana, Slovenia through this program.

Dr. Yeşiltepe-Mutlu has been working as a consultant (since 2016) and faculty (since 2018) Koç University School of Medicine. She is a member of a pediatric diabetes team led by Professor Şükrü Hatun, one of the most important figures in diabetology in Turkey, which take care of around 600 children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes. Their team is one of the leading groups in Turkey which use new technologies such as insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring systems in diabetes management. They organize monthly education programs for teachers and school nurses, two camps for diabetic children and their families and seminars for pediatric diabetes team members every year.

Dr. Yeşiltepe-Mutlu is a member of ISPAD and ESPE. She is one of the founders of Turkish Diabetic Children's Foundation and an active member of the Turkish Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes. She has attended many National and International conferences and has presented many posters and did oral presentations. She published 41 papers in international peer-reviewed journals. She is an invited speaker for Regional and National conferences in Turkey. She has authored several chapters in pediatric endocrinology in various pediatric textbooks. During her fellowship at Stanford University, she aims to improve her skills in new technologies in Diabetes to improve diabetic children’s life in her country.
