ISPAD Fellowships |
JDRF-ISPAD Research Fellowship ($25,000 USD) This grant is for ISPAD members below age 40, who wish to pursue a career in diabetes related research. It is designed to cover expenses for a 6-month (or longer) visit in an ISPAD member’s Host Center. The applicant needs to submit a scientific project which can be - at least partially - accomplished in the given time frame. A letter of support from the member in the Host Center should be included. In partnership with the JDRF we have increased the funding for this competitive fellowship to US$25,000 and expanded from 1 to 4 awards. The recipient will give credit to JDRF & ISPAD on any publication arising from any work done during the fellowship and will be expected to submit a report of fellowship research to ISPAD within one year of fellowship completion. NOTE: One fellowship will be awarded to the most outstanding research presentation from the ISPAD Science School. Applications for the ISPAD-JDRF Fellowships 2018 have now closed. ISPAD's Allan Drash Clinical Fellowship ($5,000 USD) This is the Allan Drash Clinical Fellowship for ISPAD members, physicians as well as non-physicians*, below age 45 and is currently for US$5,000. It is intended for spending time (approximately 6 weeks) at an ISPAD Drash Host Center (see list of centers) (to learn, for example, programmatic issues, clinical care, setting up a program or learning how to set up a clinical study. The ISPAD member who hosts the Drash Clinical Fellow needs to send a letter of support for the applicant, indicating what that individual will be doing in their program. The applicant needs to state the reasons for choosing that Center, and a description of his/her objectives and goals. The funded applicant will be expected to submit a report within 6 months of completion of the fellowship. NOTE: Applicants from developing and middle-income nations are encouraged to apply for this award and will be given preference in the review process. *Nurses, Dietitians, Psychologists and other Allied Healthcare Professionals are welcome to apply!
