ISPAD Newsletter 06/2019
ISPAD NEWS                                                                          No. VI / June 2019

A message from ISPAD's President

The ISPAD Executive Board and Advisory Council had many meetings with friends and colleagues during the ADA in San Francisco this month. This Newsletter has links to some of the ISPAD activities that were presented. Please consider nominating (by July 15) for the positions open so you can play a greater role in your Society.
I am pleased to announce ISPAD’s 2019 Prizes:
ISPAD Prize of Achievement: Georgeanna Klingensmith
Lestradet Prize for Education and Advocacy: Graham Ogle
ISPAD Prize for Innovation in Pediatric Diabetes Care: Peter Goss
Young Investigator Prize: Gregory Forlenza
ISPAD Hero Award: David Panzirer
Thank you to the Awards Committee led by Eda Cenqiz and congratulations to the deserving recipients: look forward to seeing you in Boston in October.

We are greatly saddened at the untimely death of Dr. Carlo Acerini on May 20, 2019, aged 57 years. He passed whilst in service to ISPAD as Co-Chief Editor of the ISPAD Clinical Practice Consensus Guidelines for 2022; and Associate Editor for “Pediatric Diabetes”.
He had previously served as a Senior Editor for the ISPAD Guidelines in 2014 and 2018. He has been a passionate clinical researcher in diabetes technology, and other areas of diabetes and endocrinology, and taught at University of Cambridge since 1997. His intelligence and good humour will be sorely missed.
