Membership Committee

What does Membership Committee do?

The Membership Committee evaluates and aims at evolving the current membership structure: total amount and distribution between different categories of professionals/groups.
Presenting new proposals that can create a positive development of ISPAD membership are part of the Committee's area of responsibility, as well as conducting evaluations continuously.

Why it is exciting to be a part of this committee?

The Committee can bring forward propositions aiming at increasing the total amount of members while on the same time taking into account important aspects of both education, science and clinical management.

A couple of the recent challenges includes the need for a larger and broader ISPAD membership group where we want to add more psychologists, nurses, diabetes educators, dieticians and other health care professionals to the ISPAD family. We also try to find ways to increase the membership rate from countries described as "Low or Lower-Middle Income countries".

The work within the Membership Committee is a challenge and a fascinating one as we also can evaluate the outcome of each action taken to increase and improve the membership structure. Hence, the work within this Committee will be a continuous one.

What is the commitment required from each Committee member?

Each member in the Membership Committee is required to participate in planned telephone conferences or video meetings when. Before annual meetings during ADA- or ISPAD-conferences, each member should be “up-to-date” regarding current membership structure and current propositions. Propositions should be brought forward from the Membership Committee to the Advisory Council. After a possible acceptance by the Advisory Council, the same proposal should be discussed with KIT. A final proposition is later brought forward to the ISPAD Steering Committee, for a final decision.

Continuous evaluation of the membership rate and structure is naturally parts which are part of this Committee's area of responsibility.
