Moriasi Nyanchoka

was awarded the Allan Drash Clinical Fellowship for 2019

Moriasi Nyanchoka is a registered dietician nutritionist practising in Nairobi, Kenya. He currently works as a dietician at Sustainable Interventions for Healthcare Access (SIHA NUTRITION), and on part time teaches at Kenya Medical Training College, Thika Campus, in Nutrition Programmes.

He has special interest in chronic disease of lifestyle, worked in several projects on diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular diseases in Kenya, in the past eight years. He has completed his credit hours for his Master Degree at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, and currently working on his Thesis on Fruits amd Vegetable Consumption Patterns and risk of chronic disease of lifestyle among young adults.

Moriasi interest in diabetes has seen him participate in several postgraduate scientific diabetes training such as the EASD advanced postgraduate courses in Clinical Diabetes, EASD Advanced postgraduate course in Diabetes and Technology, 6th Joint EASD/ADA/IDF Postgraduate Course in Advanced Clinical Management of Diabetes among others. He is an active member of ISPAD, EASD, the Nutrition Society, CENER and KNDI.

Moriasi is excited to be a recipient of Allan Drash Fellowship 2019. In his fellowship at University College London Hospital, he will further his knowledge on the intergration of nutrition management and use of technology in diabetes among pediatrics, adolescents and young adults. He will learn and acquire unique set of experience and skills on the use of insulin pumps, application of continuous glucose monitoring sensors (CGSM), and research. These undertakings will further improve on diabetes patient education, diabetes research in pediatric, adolescents and young adults and contribute to improving of already set programmes in Kenya.
