ISPAD Membership – Important Updates!

Towards a more inclusive and flexible Membership

ISPAD is pleased to introduce three new ways through which we are responding to our members’ needs, starting from July 1, 2020:

1 - A revision of the Income Groups & Fee Structure

Our fee structure has been thoroughly revised to make ISPAD Membership more accessible for those who do not come from High Income Countries (as per World Bank classification) and thus, encourage a broader and more representative membership. Some of the key changes include:

NB: The new fees are applicable for renewals and new members, starting from July 1, 2020. Current members will need to let their current membership lapse before they can apply for one of the new Income Group fees. For accounting reasons, membership dues that have been paid until June 30, 2020 cannot be refunded.

2 - A new Membership for Diabetes Teams: the “Team Membership”

Being sensitive to the current environment and following members’ feedback, we are proud to introduce a Team Membership fee. Hospitals and institutes can now purchase a team membership for their diabetes team. Up to 5 team members can be signed up in the same team (with 2 Physicians maximum).

With this new Membership, our goal is to acknowledge the importance of the entire Diabetes Team in the treatment of diabetes in the young. We also hope to make all the benefits of ISPAD membership more accessible to allied healthcare professionals through this new fee type.

3 - A new Membership Term: Rolling Membership

As of July 1, 2020, any new members joining will have a membership that is valid for 365 days (or 3 years, depending on the period booked) from the date that they join.

What does this mean?

Until now, ISPAD operated on the basis of a fixed membership year, reflecting its fiscal year: July 1 to June 30. This meant that regardless of when a member joined, their membership would expire on June 30. From now on:

  • For New Members: your membership will be valid from the date you join (for 1 year or 3 years, depending on the membership term booked).
  • For current/renewing members: nothing changes for the term of your membership. You will need to renew upon the basis of a membership start date of July 1.

You can view the various scenarios here.

Transition Process

This new fee structure will be effective on July 1, 2020. Existing members will be able to renew their membership with the new fee once their membership has expired.

Thank you for supporting ISPAD through your membership!
We are excited about these changes and look forward to keeping in touch with all our members throughout the year!
