Welcome to the Nutrition interest group of ISPAD. This group is open to all members working in pediatric diabetes with an interest in nutrition.
Dear members!
Last year, our team at the University of Almería (Spain) successfully coordinated the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP) “Diabetes 360º”, which brought together students and faculty from several European universities (Portugal, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia, and Spain). The program combined online modules with an intensive week of in-person activities, fostering both knowledge acquisition and the development of essential soft skills for multidisciplinary diabetes care. Feedback from students and faculty was very positive, and the outcomes are currently being prepared for publication in an international journal.
Building on this experience, we are now preparing a new BIP proposal for the upcoming Erasmus+ call to join as partners. Participation will provide students in health sciences (medicine, nursing, nutrition, sport sciences, psychology, etc.) with a unique multidisciplinary and international learning experience. This new program will focus on “Prevention and Screening Strategies in Diabetes” (for both type 1 and 2 diabetes), addressing two key areas identified as priorities by the WHO and several international diabetes organizations, including ISPAD.
The program should combine online modules with an in-person week at the University of Almería (Spain) around July 2026.
As the Erasmus+ call for submission closes on October 10th, 2025, we would be grateful to receive confirmation of interest by the end of this week to coordinate the proposal together.
For further details and partnership coordination, please contact me ([email protected]), and I’d be glad to share more details and coordinate a short meeting.
Best wishes,
Tiago Jeronimo
