Youth-onset Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is no longer a disease of just adults, and it has become imperative that pediatric providers become well-versed in the management of pediatric type 2 diabetes and related co-morbidities.

Youth Diabetes Risk Prediction and Management Using Machine Learning and Generative AI

Dear ISPAD Community,

I am currently a high school junior in Atlanta, USA. I started my research on youth diabetes last summer when I was doing research at University of Chicago. Later, I worked with a professor at Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, where we focused on developing machine learning models for youth diabetes risk prediction.

Most recently, I developed YouthDiabetes.AI, a web application that leverages these models to predict diabetes risk and utilizes Generative AI (LLM) to provide personalized risk management plans. The model was trained using the latest comprehensive youth diabetes datasets from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

I invite you to explore the tool www.youthdiabetes.ai and would welcome any feedback. I am also available to conduct a seminar or demonstration for those interested in seeing the application in action.

Thank you for your time and for the work you do for the diabetes community.

Best regards,

Sophia Wang [email protected]
