This group brings together professionals passionate about integrating mental health support into diabetes management to improve overall well-being and outcomes for young people with diabetes. It aims to provide a place for mental and behavioral health-specific networking, a forum for discussing relevant topics, and a portal to share resources and ideas. The group is open to all members working in pediatric diabetes with an interest in mental and behavioral health.

Activities

  1. Research Initiatives: Engage in research projects focused on the psychological and emotional needs of children and adolescents with diabetes.
  2. Educational Programs: Develop and disseminate educational materials and guidelines for healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
  3. Best Practices Promotion: Identify and promote best practices in integrating mental health support into diabetes care.
  4. Collaborative Efforts: Work with other ISPAD committees and international societies to integrate mental health initiatives and support global educational efforts.

Expectations for members

  1. Active Participation: Engage in regular meetings, discussions, and activities organized by the Mental Health SIG.
  2. Research Involvement: Contribute to research projects by submitting proposals, participating in surveys, and collaborating with other members.
  3. Content Development: Assist in creating and sharing content for social media, newsletters, and other communication channels.
  4. Advocacy and Outreach: Support advocacy initiatives aimed at improving diabetes care and education for young people.
