ISPAD Prizes

ISPAD Prize for Achievement

The ISPAD Prize for Achievement is the society’s highest honour. It is awarded to any individual who has made outstanding contributions in the areas of science, education and advocacy which have had a major impact on childhood and adolescent diabetes. The ISPAD Prize may be awarded to members or non-members of ISPAD. The Prize consists of a glass sculptured trophy, a monetary prize of US$ 5,000 plus economy travel, registration and 4 hotel nights to ISPAD Annual Conference. The recipient will be expected to formally receive the Prize at the Annual Conference of ISPAD.


ISPAD Lestradet Prize for Education and Advocacy

The ISPAD Lestradet Prize for Education and Advocacy will be given to honour any ISPAD Member who has made an outstanding contribution within education and advocacy. The prize winner is awarded US$ 3,000, 4 hotel nights, registration and economy travel to the Annual Conference of ISPAD, where he or she will receive this prize.


ISPAD Prize for Innovation in Pediatric Diabetes Care

This prize is for any professional, group or individual who has made a significant innovation in pediatric diabetes care. This prize puts the focus on diabetes in childhood by recognizing innovations to improve health and quality of care for children and young people. Only non-commercial innovations will be considered for this prize. The prize winner is expected to travel to the Annual Conference of ISPAD to formally receive the prize. It consists of US$ 3,000 plus economy travel, 4 hotel nights and registration to the meeting.


ISPAD Young Investigator Award

Any ISPAD Member (aged 40 or less) can apply for the ISPAD Young Investigator Award. The application must include a paper published in a peer reviewed journal within two years prior to the application, and a CV including all publications. The winner will receive US$ 3,000 and economy travel to the Annual Conference of ISPAD, where he or she will formally receive the prize.



How to apply for any of the Prizes above?

To apply for any of the prizes, the candidate or nominator should prepare:

  1. a letter with the candidate’s name and an explanation why he/she should be awarded;
  2. the complete CV of the candidate.

ISPAD Best Oral/Poster Prize

The ISPAD Best Oral Prize (1) and the ISPAD Best Poster Prize (2) will be given to an individual (ISPAD member or non-member) submitting an abstract to the ISPAD Annual Conference and

  1. Giving the best oral presentation.
  2. Presenting the best poster

The selection will be made during the meeting by a special Selection Committee under the auspices of the ISPAD Executive Committee.

Both winners will receive a free ISPAD membership for 3 years.
